LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday rejected a petition requesting to declare Senate elections for the seat of chairman and deputy chairman null and void.
Hearing the petition filed by Advocate Rana Ilm Deen, Justice Shahid Karim rejected the applicant’s plea and ordered him to call upon the Election Comission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding the issue.
The petitioner claimed that the ‘worst example of horse trading was witnessed during the Senate elections’. It was added that those who do not fulfill requirements of the Article 62, 63 of the Constitution are ineligible to hold public offices.
It was requested that the court invalidate Senate elections, including those of the chairman and deputy chairman.
