LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Dr Asim has stepped down as the president of PPP Karachi division on Friday.
He has told party Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari that he would not be able to fulfill his responsibilities due to health issues.
He has to travel abroad for a surgery, he told Zardari. However, he wished to continue working as a party worker.
Asim’s resignation letter has been accepted by the party leadership saying he will be given some other important responsibilities in future.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari praised Asim for his services for the party. “Dr Asim has done a lot for the party,” he said.
Dr Asim was appointed as PPP Karachi chief in November, last year.
