ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan has requested for the deployment of 350,000 military armed forces in upcoming general elections 2018.
Elections are scheduled to be held on July 25.
According to sources, ECP has forwarded a request to the Ministry of Defence for the deployment of troops.
The military will maintain law and order during the elections, sources reported.
According to the sources, ECP has decided to provide the online information of those who are contesting the polls.
Moreover, the information of candidate’s assets and their affidavits will be made available to the voters on ECP’s website.
The returning officers (RO), on the other hand, have started scanning data and sending it to Election Commission Secretariat.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has formed at least 20 tribunals to hear appeals on verdicts of the nomination papers of candidates for the upcoming general election in the country.
High court judges will also be a part of the appellate tribunals. Of the 20, six tribunals are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, eight in Punjab, four in Sindh, and two in Balochistan. In KP, Justice Syed Afsar Shah, Justice Musarrat Hilali, Justice Lal Jan Khattak, Justice Mohammad Ghazanfar, Justice Abdul Shakoor and Justice Ijaz Anwar will be presiding over the trials in Peshawar, Abbotabad, Mingora, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.
